Success Stories 2006

I would like to send you some pictures of Ms. Janes. She is completely used to the life at my home. I have to say that I have never seen any nicer dog than her! She is so friendly, easy going, likes to exercise with me, and behaves wonderfully. Everyday I see the angel smile on her face! (like the one in the picture). I occasionally bring her to my office at nights and she is loved by every office mate because of her wonderfulness.

I am wondering if I could visit your shelter with Ms. Janes sometime next week so that you can see her.

I would keep you updated on how she is doing.

Sincerely,

Janes

Here are a few pictures of Joey. She is about 14 months old. She is a great dog!She loves to visit her grandparents and to play with her Aunt Molly (11 yr old-Golden retriever). She also loves playing with her sister Trouble (3 year old cat).

I appreciate everything that you do to help these animals. And I am grateful that Joey had such a wonderful place to wait until I found her!!

Thank again,

Stephanie

Hi Pete and Marcy,

Here are 2 pictures of Olivia. Her report card so far is a mix of A's and D's! She's really a love and every kid on our block is crazy about her. Her front leg doesn't seem to bother her at all. She's played with other dogs in the neighborhood and is really fast and energetic, and has such a nice temperament. She was really pulling a lot on the leash because we have so many squirrels in our neighborhood, so I got one of those Gentle Leaders and she's doing much better. At first she hated it but now she knows

It means a walk and puts up with

Katherine and family

I've found a good local vet close to home He seems very knowledgeable, kind and caring. He spent a lot of time with Tiger Lily, Mouse, and with us during our first visit there. He even let Shawn listen to the kittens' fast heartbeats and look in Tiger Lily's ears! They've both gained a couple of pounds since they were last weighed. Now, they are both up-to-date on all vaccines. Dr. Thompson is big into dental hygiene, so we have started brushing their teeth some.

We will continue to keep in touch with you about Tiger Lily and Mouse. They truly are members of our family now. Tiger Lily loves sitting/sleeping on my husband's lap when he's watching football on television; and Mouse is so attached to Cameron. They're both so funny sometimes, you just have to laugh!

Hi Marcy,

It was really nice meeting the both of you too.

O'Malley is doing great he slept with Gregory all night last night. I think were changing his name to Shanahan since we are big Red Wing fans, I still wanted an Irish name for him too, lol. I want to thank you very much for letting us adopt him, we truly adore him and I will recommend your organization to everyone we know that is looking for a pet. Anyways Thank You very Much, and I will send you more pic's soon. I will probably see you at the trick or treating thru town this year I will stop and let you know how he is doing then too.

Thank You Again,

Kim

Hi. I just came across this email with the pictures of Tammy and Reno when we picked them up. It is hard to believe that two years have gone by already! I've attached their latest 'portrait'. Both kittens, now called Gabi and Pooter, are doing very well. In fact, I think they are the most spoiled cats ever! The boy is especially spoiled and he loves to snuggle. The girl is a little more independent but still wants to be in the same room as us. They both come to the door to greet us when we get home. Gabi loves to have her belly rubbed and will drop on the ground and roll over anywhere. Pooter's favorite thing in the whole world is watermelon. If I cut one open, he comes running from anywhere in the house. Pretty pathetic actually.

They have been very good kittens and we love them to pieces :-)

Hi,

As you can see, as much as we shot her with the water and shooed her off. Cocoa has made a stand. Her bed is on the island in the kitchen in our napkin basket. We snapped another pic last night so you can see how much she has grown in just a week.

She is also our 7:30 am on the dot alarm clock! We just love her so much.

Enjoy,

Robin

I just wanted to send another e-mail, I'm the guy who adopted Falen (who I renamed Loki) around October. He's doing very well and is a perfect companion. Even compared to all the purebred cats my parents owned, Loki has the best temperament. He's really playful, really sweet, never uses his claws except on his scratching post, a lapcat, and he always uses the litter box.

Thank you for such a great cat!

Hi my name is Kara and I adopted Drew (named after your grandson I think) back at Petco Westland August of 04'. He was one of three puppies found in a ditch with their mother. I remember I was at Petco an hour early waiting for Drew to arrive, since I had seen him on petfinder. I called you guys and asked if I could come pick him up, but you said, be at petco Saturday to adopt him!! I was there and the little punk was to shy to come out of the carrier! My family and I voted and changed his name to Barry Sanders. He is going to be 2 already, how time flies!

The main reason I am contacting you is to see if you have the pictures of him that you put on petfinder. There were three, one close up of his head with his little black foot, and two with sand on his nose outside. I remember Marcy telling me a friend had taken the pictures so if you could find them I would be forever grateful. They are the cutest pics! Thanks again for Barry, he is a wonderful dog. I would love to volunteer sometime. Hope to hear from you.

Sincerely,

Kara

We adopted two cats from you somewhere around the end of August. I believe their names at the time were Jerry and Cuddly. They have been doing great! Jerry's (now Mojo's) eye infection went away almost right away, we hardly had to use the eye medication at all. And Cuddly (Ziggy) has gotten bigger than anticipated! They are very friendly, outgoing cats and such fun to have around. You said when we bought them that if we ever had pictures, to send them along to you guys for your website. Well, we just took some pictures and I thought you might like to see them- if not to use for your website, then simply just to see how big they've gotten! Thanks again for these wonderful pets!

Sincerely,

Kacey

Good afternoon Marcy and Pete and all the adoptable babies there,  we got a orange main coon mix a year and a half ago, you had named him Coady, we call him Bentley and I just wanted to let you know we could not have a sweeter or more affectianate little man.  Thank you again for him.  When I took him to our vet right after we picked him up he said he looked very healthy and well taken care of and when I told him we got him from your organation he said he had checked a couple other adoptions out from you and they were all very healthy also.  Thank you!  Two friends I have here in work Marilyn  and Jan  both came down and got kitties and they are both so pleased Marilyn  just got Nicky a week ago and she said he is a doll.  We all want to thank you for all the good work you do., and for our babies that give us lots of love.  Thanks, again.   Jeannie

Hello All....

I never sent any pictures after the adoption, and my good friend Rob Maxwell (who adopted Sugar the day we came in) has guilted me into making sure I send a few of Ripley.

She is doing wonderfully.....and to say she is spoiled rotten would be an utter understatement.  Unfortunately, she is still a bit of a fear-barker and we did find out that she has hypo-thyroid....but my son and I work on socializing her all the time and the vet has the thyroid situation under control with meds.

I am so very thankful for finding her on petfinder.com - she is a blessing to have as a member of our family.

Hi Marcy:

JC is a doll!  He loves madie the foster dog and he wants to be miss kittys friend.  Miss kitty needs a little time, but she will warm up.  Little JC (no new name yet--maybe kimba) came up on the bed and laid on the pillow, put his foot on my shoulder and snoozed for the longest time.  When he woke up he kissed my arm and went to see miss kitty.  Thank you soooo much for my new baby and for all the work you guys are doing.  I feel like the luckiest mom in the world!

Bless you both.
Sharon

We'll be in touch.

Thank you,

Hey Pete, Marcy, Ally, & Doc,

Snowflake's first night was great!  By the way, we left her name Snowflake.  It just fit.  We call her "Snowee".  She seemed to adjust well for the first night.  She met our cat, Callie, and was very interested and wanted to play!  Callie on the other hand decided to retreat to the closet.  LOL.  Snowee slept inbetween Jessica & I all night on our bed.  She has been 'going' outside and hasn't 'went' in the house at all.  She seems to be taking well to us & our house.  She's playing and seems to be having fun.  We had company (the grandparents) and she was great with them.  Thanks for everything you all have done for her.  .  We'll definitely keep in touch!

-Jay, Jess, & Alexa and
Snowflake.

FMAR

I am writing this letter to let you now that the most wonderful thing you have ever done was to let us have a dog.  I am sorry that it has taken me so long, but I will explain and you will see that all turns out in the end.

Last year 2006 on the Thanksgiving holiday we stopped in to see what dogs you had that needed a good home.  Anne was not available at the time and we were going home the next day to Illinois.  We understood your carefulness in placing the right dog with the right family.  You may have heard that we have changed her name to Raven Jones and she has and will always be a part of this family as long as she wants to be. She has her moments as we all do, but we love her and could not imagine our life without her.  She is a bit of a bed hog and loves to play tug. Raven has been with us through this year of pain, you see Mr. Jones passed away on August 8, 2007.  Raven was very good with all the commotion.  I thought about all the charities that have called asking for this and asking for that, but I knew that he loved Raven as much as we still do.  I wish for you to accept the enclosed funds to use to protect and see that other dogs, and cats find families that love them as we do Raven. I wish to thank you for all your help in giving her to us.  Maybe next time we are in Michigan we will stop for a visit.  Thank you again.  I know that it was a little scary to send a dog out of state and away so far, but I will assure you that Raven is truly in a loving, caring, nurturing home and with people that love her with everything they have to give.  Thank you again.

Carol.
